Tootisie and Clay Cowgil
Kerry Bexley, the owner of Snow’s BBQ, recognized the demand for excellent BBQ in the small town of Lexington, with a population of only 1100 people. Lexington has always been renowned for its Saturday BBQ—a cherished tradition. In the late 90s, Kerry and Ms. Tootsie Tomanetz, the pit boss, explored the idea of opening a BBQ joint, but they took no action until several years later. In November of 2002, Kerry visited Ms. Tootsie, kicked the ashes around, and once again discussed the possibility of opening this joint. Ms. Tootsie, recognizing Kerry's seriousness, suggested they sit down for a real "heart-to-heart." They did just that, and immediately afterward, Kerry began building the BBQ pits.
